There were five main areas of interest where tour guides told us the history of the family that had begun the ranch. There were four houses to tour, with guides in period costume, and we got to see the cowboys working with the cattle on their horses. It was fascinating, and we all agreed that the story should be turned into a movie at some point.
Today, we travelled to Rosenburg to see the Assembly Hall there. It was suuuper big, and so well arranged as you can expect from the organisation. Every last detail was taken into consideration, down to the direction of the sun on brothers and sisters in the classes when they were writing!
The brother who took us on the tour knew so much, and I think we all learned a lot. It took about two hours, which is a lot longer than the tour normally lasts. The weather is still great, so afterwards we stood on the bridge and fed the ducks and fish.
We had lunch at "What A Burger"... Taris and I are still sharing portions because they're so huge.
Following lunch we headed off to the Houston Museum of Fine Art. I had a blast as we wandered through the galleries, and saw some beautiful pieces:) Taris, on the other hand, got kinda bored. Art is not her thing!
All in all, it's been a good two days.
That all sounds so special!!! Apparently the buildings on the ranch are really old, hope you took nice pics of those!!
ReplyDeleteWhat an ENORMOUS assembly hall!!!!! Wow (that word again), it must've taken an enormous amount of planning to take all those things into account!!!
I thought Tarissa wouldn't be awed by the art museum. Love that pic outside, looks like water at the bottom.
Also, of course, the artwork, PHEW!!
Keep em coming!!
I tried to take a lot of photos, but the light wasn't good as we weren't allowed to use the flash. The assembly hall was huuuge! And I thouroughly enjoyed the museum even if Taris didn't:)
DeleteWow! Looks like you girls are having a wonderful time in Houston! Glad the weather is great too! We are missing you girls and look forward to having you back with us in Virginia!!!
ReplyDeleteLove Rev & Jude :)
Looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your adventure via such regular updates ;-)
Pleash, it's just the tip of the iceberg! Loots of photos are being taken and we're keeping all the stories in our journals to share with everyone:)
