I certainly hope we don't do any nosediving!!

Today we spent the day with our grampa to say goodbye before going. He's also keeping a countdown for us, and made us cards to say goodbye:) Tarissa's one said she mustn't ending up wanting to be an American hehehe.

Only 6 more days :) How many sleeps is that?

We ended off yesterday with a surprise phone call from Uncle Jorge, and this morning Taris getting a haircut, all ready for tomorrow:) Things are getting done!

Just a week...dun dun duun

A week! We're only a week away from getting on that plane :D
I think that's what the wing means on the '7', but I can't be sure ;)

8 days to go

My mom is getting creative with rhymes on the countdown now lol.

Taris has written her last exam today and doesn't have to go back to school, so we're finally both on holiday!  We're celebrating with a special yummy supper :)

Now we can really get down to packing everything.

We're into the single-digits!

LOL and this is the number my mom drew... well, actually she was struggling with drawing a nine, so I drew an outline and she traced over it and drew the face and all the "ha's".

She has commandeered the chalkboard numbering now, because she 'wants in on the fun'... :)

In other news: well, actually the rest of the news is a surprise, so I can't share it! :D tehehe.

A milestone- TEN more days!!

And we have officially reached only 10 days until we leave! I can barely contain my excitement :D

11 days to go

This our little countdown chalk board and bubble-wrap calender (so we get to pop a bubble every day:D )

In other news: Sjoe! More bubble-wrapping of gifts happening today! I think we're nearing the end, only about two more small things to wrap up. Below is what feels like a big step forwards- the miniature paintings have been taken out of the lounge and wrapped up now, finally.

We're very excited to see everyone's faces when we deliver everything!

13 days and more packing...

More bags (complete with funky easily-recognisable-during-baggage-claim design added by me) acquired today, as well as some warm clothes and the last few gifts... I think. Losing track here!

14 DAYS!

14 days! 14 days!! FOURTEEN DAYS! That's TWO weeks! :O
It doesn't feel real.

16 days and packing...

Ooh today we spent a ton of time bubble and cling-wrapping most of the gifts. We are officially out of bubble-wrap and on our way to being out of tape and clingwrap!

 Another exciting development today was that we went to fetch some bags that a sister is kindly lending us.

I can't wait to get on that plane!

18 days to go

We heard more about our plans for Houston today! They sound lovely- lots of field service and other spiritual things. I'm really excited to see the ranch!

Thank you to Uncle Jorge and Aunty Desiree for making the plans and for putting in so much effort in preparing a room for us! We really appreciate it.

20 days left

So we reach the 20-day milestone!

We spent yesterday getting some shopping done for the trip. I got a bag to travel with which has lots of pockets for keeping things safe and organised and some jeans for general use (so I don't end up having to wear skirts 24/7!) and Taris got some comfy pants to travel in. 

We also got hold of a bunch of the requested S.A products- we have quite a stock of all things South African now! Much of it is yummy... Soo difficult to resist! A pity we can't pack in fizzy cold drinks- apparently they're yucky in the U.S.

Back to preparing stuff now!

T-minus 22 days

And so we reach 22 days before we leave! Plus one day until we arrive hehe. I can't believe things have moved so quickly and that we're so close! We still have so much to do...eek!
